Faraday Future (FF), an electric vehicle maker in California, unveiled its first production-intent FF91 ultra-luxury EV but its price could be way above $150,000. A cursory look and you can immediately come to the conclusion that this is the ultimate in luxury!
In the next stage, the EV company is set to line up plans to begin full-fledged production in Q3 of this year.
However, in December 2021, the company had targeted the summer of 2022 for launching the FF91. It seems production has been pushed back by at least a few months.

The luxury EV maker is set to build more production-intent vehicles in the next few months and these will all go through vehicle testing and validation, as well as final certification.
FF, last year, had charted four milestones for its flagship EV’s standard operating procedures or SOPs.
These include installation of pilot equipment at its Hanford unit’s pre-production build area, getting a certificate of occupancy as well as starting the construction for the remaining production areas at its plant.
They also include building a pre-production model for the final engineering validation and certification.
The next milestones are to roll out major mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems. These will provide support to complete construction and for equipment installation in the final vehicle manufacturing areas, as well as start of production.
FF’s vice-president of manufacturing Matt Tall said the FF91 is expected to be the first ultra-luxury EV to reach the American market. It is set to offer unique driver and passenger experiences.
“The first production-intent vehicle at Hanford is a key step towards the start of production in Q3. This iteration is the closest to the FF91 production model that we have seen to date,” said Tall.
While the outside looks seem that the FF91 may be like a futuristic minivan, on the inside, it’s quite different.
It is a four seater, where the rear of the FF91 bears semblance to a first-class airline seat. There is so much space that passengers can easily move to a near-full recline position that will allow them to almost sleep comfortably.
The tech is top class, with screens around for so many things — like entertainment and in-car climate monitoring.
With each production-intent vehicle that the company makes in the coming months will adhere to the FF91’s standard operating procedures.
The exteriors and interiors of FF91 can be seen on the automaker’s website. The FF91 ultra-luxury EV is said to deliver the next generation of mobility in luxury as well as in performance and technology.
Faraday Future calls it a high-performance electric vehicle with unique Internet, and intelligent technology capabilities. Retail pricing could be at the $170,000-$180,000 levels.
The FF91 went on a spin, with the e-car accelerating straight away after which the EV showcased an autocross demonstration.
Faraday Future was founded by Chinese businessman Jia Yueting in April 2014.

The FF91 maker is headquartered in Los Angeles, at the Harbor Gateway neighborhood, which is near Carson. Since its inception in 2014, the company had grown to 1,000 employees in less than two years.
The EV FF91, despite its $170,000 price tag, could find quite a few takers in the US car market.
