Hero Electric’s all-new Eddy priced a tad higher at Rs 72,000

Hero Electric’s all-new Eddy electric scooter has been unveiled and comes with a very slim and stylish look, priced a tad above Rs 70,000. The Hero Eddy electric scooter is ideal for travelling short distances and strikes a healthy balance between technology and convenience.

If you, say, want to pick up your groceries at the nearby supermarket and don’t want to walk, the Hero Eddy could be your ideal choice for travel. This easy-to-manoeuvre scooter is not too steeply priced, though.

It comes for Rs 72,000 but we feel it could have been priced, say, in the range of Rs 60,000. This, we think, would have been the ideal pricing.

The Eddy electric scooter comes with a simple yet stylish body design and is loaded with a string of features to pave the way for commuters to have a convenient ride.

The Hero Eddy has been designed in a way so that it is suited to cover short distances.

Although it is for short distances, the range of the Eddy electric scooter hasn’t been revealed yet.

According to the company, the Eddy electric scooter comes with features such as find my bike, e-lock, large boot space, follow me headlamps as well as reverse mode.

The Eddy is to be made available in two colours — Yellow and light Blue. The good news is that Hero Eddy does not require any registration or driving licence as it is a low-speed vehicle.

Also, the maximum speed of the Eddy wasn’t available but it could be around 70 km or so.

Hero Electric is continuing its endeavour to make its scooters pollution free and Eddy is a move in this direction of clean energy, the company said.

“We at Hero are happy to unveil our upcoming scooter, the Hero Eddy, which is set to have an overwhelming on-road presence with its combination of smart features and stylish looks,” said Naveen Munjal, managing director of Hero Electric.

Speaking about the Eddy electric scooter, he added, “We designed the scooter keeping in mind a rider’s efforts to contribute towards a carbon-free future and to also provide a hassle-free ride. We are confident that Hero Eddy will make the perfect alternative choice in mobility, considering its comfort and necessity.”

Hero Electric is a name to reckon with in the Indian e-scooter market and it has recently scaled up production facilities at its Ludhiana unit in Punjab, considering the future demand for its e-scooters.

Currently, the company has over 750 sales and service outlets in the country and is making great efforts towards improving the charging infrastructure across India.

Hero Electric has, to date, sold nearly 4.5 lakh units (450,000 units) of different electric models in the Indian market.

This short-distance e-scooter, even though could have come cheaper, may be a hit in the rural market in India and among the urban middle class.

Even car owners could buy the Eddy as a second vehicle as they may not want to use their cars for short journeys.

The Hero Eddy could also be a potential e-scooter for export to developing countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar as well as the Philippines, and for this, it will carry a price tag of more than Rs 72,000.
