Tatas to roll out cars on Avinya concept from 2025

Tata Motors is in the fast lane to bring out many electric vehicles (EVs), and in the process, it has unveiled its new electric SUV Avinya — a concept from which cars will roll out in 2025.

Tata Motors has said that this is a mega stride towards the next generation of electric vehicles by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM).

 

Will Lexus achieve 1 million annual EV sales by 2030?

Lexus — the luxury car brand of Toyota — aims to sell 1 million (10 lakh) electric vehicles (EVs) annually by 2030, according to a report by Automotive News, but can it ramp up substantially to achieve this target?

Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 EV to launch in India this year

Hyundai Motor India has said that it will launch the Ioniq 5 electric vehicle (EV) in the country this year itself. This is part of the South Korean auto giant’s plan to ramp up its battery car offering in India.

Hyundai’s plan to roll out the Ioniq 5 EV in the country was indicated earlier when the South Korean automaker displayed the compact electric car at an event in Delhi. Now, the automaker has revealed the launch year also.

MG, BPCL partner to boost EV charging infrastructure

British auto giant Morris Garages (MG) Motor is undertaking a major drive to spur the adoption of green mobility by boosting electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in India.

In doing so, it has tied up with India’s public sector undertaking (PSU) giant Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to ramp up the EV charging ecosystem for the convenience of electric vehicle owners.

Omega Seiki Mobility to set up world’s largest three-wheeler EV plant in Karnataka

A Faridabad-based electric vehicle (EV) company — Omega Seiki Mobility — has unveiled ambitious plans to set up the world’s largest electric three-wheeler manufacturing plant in Karnataka.

For this purpose, the company plans to pump in around $250 million, which is nearly Rs 2,000 crore.

Honda City e:HEV hybrid sedan’s India launch in May

Japanese auto major Honda Cars has unveiled the Honda City e:hybrid electric vehicle (e:HEV) sedan in India and the car is all set to roll out in May this year.

This will be the City’s first full-fledged hybrid system in India. Earlier in 2016, the Honda Accord had a hybrid model but it did not gather much steam in the country then.

Fiat to revive historic Topolino into a mini EV

The Citroen Ami, the baby electric vehicle (EV), is all set to get another twin from the Fiat stable, with the carmaker gearing up to revive the historic Topolino brand — that was last produced 60 years ago — into a mini EV.

Fiat is set to make the new mini electric vehicle based on the Citroen Ami. It may not see a total makeover but be on lines of the zero-emission car sold by Citroen in Europe. 

Tesla Cybertruck US roll out in 2023

Tesla has once again put up for display its all-electric pick-up truck, the Cybertruck, at the Cyber Rodeo show at its new Gigafactory in Texas, and the electric vehicle (EV) is expected to roll out in 2023. 

The latest variant of Tesla’s Cybertruck comes with a slew of changes and upgrades compared to its previous prototypes. 

EV sales in India grow 257% in FY22

Recent sales figures by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations of India (FADA) showed that electric vehicles (EVs) in the country saw a 257 per cent year-on-year sales growth in the last financial year (2021-22).

This is mainly owing to petrol and diesel prices hitting the roof, prompting car buyers to tilt towards EVs instead of fuel cars.

Tata Motors unveils concept Curvv EV | SUV to hit road in 2024

Tata Motors has unveiled the all-new Tata Curvv EV Coupe concept and the new SUV is all set to hit the road in 2024.

With the Curvv SUV Concept, the auto major is moving to its generation 2 architecture. This new design and tech are set to give a further fillip to the adoption of EVs in India by Tata Motors.

Tata Motors next EV could be Altroz

Tata Motors has teased a new electric car and the big announcement is set to come in a couple of days about which model the next electric vehicle (EV) could be — and speculation is rife that it may be the Altroz or an SUV. 

The teaser does not name the EV and there is speculation that the Tata group may come up with at least one of the three models — the upgraded Tata Nexon, the upgraded Tata Tigor or the Tata Altroz EV.
