A Lithium-ion battery pack is mounted on the e-car’s floor. The range of the car is 590 km under Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) parameters.

Battery and range

The BMW i4 is propelled by an 83.9 kWh battery pack that comes with a maximum power of 335 bhp and peak torque of 430 Nm.

The electric car comes with an 11kW wall-box charger that can be used at home. The AC charger can charge the battery up to 100 per cent in about 8.25 hours.

As another option, the BMW i4 also has a provision for 50 kW/250 kW DC charging. The 50kW DC charger can charge the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in just over 80 minutes.

Similarly, the 205kW DC charger can charge the battery up to 80 per cent in 31 minutes.

BMW claims that the i4 can zoom from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 5.7 seconds, which is incredible.

Interior

The cabin of the BMW i4 comes with features such as an infotainment display of 14.9 inches, a BMW curved display and a digital instrument cluster of 12.3 inches, among other features.

Some other key features of the car are wireless charging, automatic climate control, android auto, a powerful reverse parking camera and Apple carplay connectivity.

Also, there is a leather upholstery, wooden inserts, a three-spoke steering wheel rapped in leather and there are seats with memory functions, an electrically-adjustable steering column as well as power sockets.

There is also a sound system comprising the iconic Harmon Kardon speakers, among the slew of other features.

Exterior

So far as the design goes, the BMW i4 has a kidney-shaped grille along with LED headlamps. The BMW badge comes in blue accents. The taillights are L-shaped.

The car is offered in three colours — Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey as well as Black Sapphire. The BMW electric car gives an option for either 18-inch wheels or 19-inch wheels.

The side view of the i4 has a long wheelbase and the doors come with frameless windows.

Warranty

There is a lot on offer, so far as warranty is concerned. The BMW i4 comes with two years/unlimited km warranty. On the other hand, the battery is offered with a warranty of eight years/1.6 lakh km (160,000 km), which is a big thumbs up.

Variants and pricing

BMW is unfortunately offering no choice in the i4 electric car, which is coming in a single variant and costs Rs 69.9 lakh (Rs 6.99 million), which is very smart pricing.

Bookings for the electric car have started and deliveries will begin in India from July 2022.

Conclusion

With its intelligent pricing of the i4 EV, BMW will surely attract many car buyers in its category and could soon become the top luxury e-car player in India.
