Tata Motors has finally launched the new long-range Nexon
electric vehicle (EV) Max in India and the first question coming to everyone’s
mind is how different is it from the Standard Nexon EV?
Tata hasn’t phased out the older Nexon and is offering it
along with the Max, which means a wider choice for its prospective customers.
So, if you feel the Max is too expensive, you have the choice of opting for the Nexon Standard EV instead.

Price range
Prices of the Nexon Max start from Rs 17.74 lakh (Rs
17,74,000) and the top variant comes for Rs 19.24 lakh (Rs 19,24,000), that is,
ex-showroom, India.
The Standard Nexon EV’s price starts from Rs 14.53 lakh (Rs
14,53,000) and goes up to Rs 17.15 lakh (Rs 17,15,000).
Variants offered
The EV Max will come in two variants — XZ+ and XZ+ LUX. In both, one has the option of taking a 7.2 kW AC fast charger. However, the Standard Nexon EV is available in three trims — XM, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux.
Range
The upgraded electric SUV — which is a part of the compact
segment — has a larger 40.5 kWh battery pack and a higher ARAI-certified range
of 437 km along with a litany of fresh offerings.
The Nexon Standard variant has a range of 312 km, as per ARAI
standard.
The Tata Nexon EV Max is propelled by a permanent magnet
synchronous AC motor that is paired with the 40.5 kWh Lithium-Ion battery pack.
Acceleration
The motor of the Max belts out 141 bhp and 250 Nm of peak
torque. It has an electronically-limited top speed of 140 km per hour. The
Nexon EV Max can touch from 0-100 km per hour in less than nine seconds.
Charging
The standard charger takes 15 hours to fully charge using a 15A plug point, while the AC fast charger can do it in just 6.5 hours. Moreover, the Nexon EV Max also supports DC fast charging up to 50 kW and can charge the battery pack up to 80 per cent in less than an hour.
The Standard EV can charge up to 90 per cent in 8.5 hours via a 15A plug point. The Standard Nexon’s 3.3kW AC home charger takes eight hours for a 20-100 per cent charge.
Interiors
The new Tata Nexon EV Max comes with the fresh Makaran
interiors, ventilated front seats, jeweled-controller knob with display,
wireless phone charger, air purifier, smart watch integration and cruise
control, among others. The Standard EV comes with a cream layout.
Both the models have a few common features also. These
include a sunroof, a 7-inch touchscreen, auto AC along with rear AC vents and connected
car tech.
So far as safety goes, the Nexon EV Max comes with all
four-disc brakes, ESP, Hill Hold and Hill Descent Control.
It also includes dual airbags, emergency stop light, roll
over mitigation, brake disc wiping and ISOFIX. The EV Max has a multi-mode
regeneration function also.
The Standard Nexon version comes with Electronic Traction
Control, Roll Over Mitigation, Emergency Brake Assist and Hill Hold Control.
Colour
The new long-range Tata Nexon EV Max will largely remain the same as the regular model, at least visually.
But the SUV is offered with a new exclusive Intensi-Teal colour, along with Daytona Grey and Pristine White. Daytona Grey has been carried over from the Standard SUV.
All Nexon EV Max variants will come in dual-tone colours that will be standard.
The Nexon EV Max comes with a ground clearance of 205 mm, 5 mm lower than the Nexon Standard SUV. In the Max, Tata has also
re-tuned the suspension set up.
Conclusion
So, in the Tata Nexon Max EV versus Nexon Standard EV battle, the Max is a clear
winner, even in pricing strategy.
