It would be the third plant of Okinawa, which has two other units at Alwar itself, also in Rajasthan.
According to Okinawa’s founder and managing director Jeetender Sharma, the R&D facilities planned at the mega factory will be futuristic in a bid to meet the sector's demand.
Okinawa said that from the new plant manufacture of scooters and motorcycles under its current joint venture with Tacita will be undertaken.
Besides manufacturing vehicles, the new unit will also have a supplier park that will cater to the whole EV ecosystem, including battery packs and electrical parts. There will be an in-house automatic robotic battery manufacturing unit also.
It will also have a robotic automation unit for plastic body parts moulding and a hi-tech paint shop, paving the way for localisation in production.
UAE’s META4 auto subsidiary Ellysium Automotives has rolled out its electric two-wheeler brand EVeium and will launch scooters made in India within a month.
The company said it is planning to launch three e-scooters that will be manufactured at Zahirabad in Telangana. The investment needed would be Rs 250 crore.
Ellysium used to promote British electric two-wheeler brand One Moto in the country. It would now offer a range of EVs like electric scooters, bicycles and electric bikes.
EVeium has already started inducting dealers and is eyeing presence in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha by March 2023.
EVTRIC Motors has launched its first motorcycle with a price tag of Rs 1.6 lakh (Rs 160,000), which is rather on the expensive side.

It also started bookings for this e-bike, EVTRIC Rise. The initial payment for the booking would be Rs 5,000.
The motorcycle comes with a top speed of 70 km per hour and can do a commendable 110 km on a single charge.
Propelled by a 2,000-Watt BLDC motor and a 70v/40 Ah lithium-ion battery, the e-bike Rise can be fully charged in four hours.
EVTRIC Motors belongs to Pune-based automation firm PAPL. EVTRIC already has three electric scooters in the country, namely Axis, Ride and Mighty. The company currently has 125 outlets in 22 states.
