Our top 3 non-luxury EVs globally are the Ford Mustang, Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, not necessarily in that order. Here is a look at the Model 3, Mustang Mach-E and Ioniq 5:
Ford Mustang Mach-E
A spin in the Ford Mustang electric vehicle is gripping, and the car is fun to drive. Its grip is commendable and the feedback on its steering control is good. The brakes are also powerful.
Those who have driven the Mustang EV have given the car thumbs up in comfort, performance, technology, build quality as well as styling.
In the medium term, the Mustang Mach-E could give the likes of Tesla and other premium cars some unexpected competition.
The 2022 Mustang Mach-E comes with 70-kWh batteries that offer standard range. However, the 91-kWh batteries come with an extended range. While the rear-wheel drive (RWD) variants have an electric motor on the rear axle, the all-wheel drive (AWD) versions get motors on both axles.
The Mustang Mach-E Select (base model) comes in standard range with either RWD or AWD

The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5
The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is generating a lot of excitement the world over. It is an EV crossover that debuts on the auto giant’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). This architecture will see many of the company’s future cars being rolled out.
The Ioniq 5 has a very futuristic look and many may mistake it for a concept car.
The sharp lines as well as the LED headlights give the electric Ioniq 5 a very smart look. Hyundai e-car’s base model comes with a 58 kWh lithium-ion battery pack along with a single motor powering the rear axle.
However, the more powerful 77.4 kWh battery pack is there in the dual-motor variant, paving the way for a higher range. The dual-motor Hyundai Ioniq 5 belts out 320 hp and 446 lb ft of torque.
The mega battery-powered dual-motor Ioniq 5 can touch 60 miles per hour (96.5 km an hour) in just about 5.1 seconds.

The safe exit assist feature prevents the rear doors from opening if any car comes from behind. The Ioniq 5 also comes with a remote smart-parking assist system.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 packs a punch with impressive tech features.
There is a pair of 12.3-inch screens in front and at the centre of the cockpit. One serves as the instrument cluster while the other is a touchscreen infotainment system.
