Comfort, performance to woo Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS 53 EV buyers in India

Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS 53 EV has been rolled out in India to cater to the ultra-rich segment and this category of users would not look for affordability but the motivation for them to buy this car would be comfort and performance.

Mercedes AMG EQS 53 is one of the company’s most stunning battery-powered cars and is the second EV from the luxury car maker’s stable to come to India, after the EQC.

Comfort, performance to woo Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS 53 EV buyers in India
The Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS 53 EV.
It offers seamless and comfortable drive and also takes away the range worries to a great extent.

The EQS 53 comes with a coupe-like roofline that depicts a smart and slim look. Among other things, there are the AMG-inspired alloy wheels and a rear spoiler also.

The lower half of the bumper comes with a glossy black finish, which gives the car a sporty look.

The rear portion has an LED light bar and tail lamps. The digital LED headlight is with 1.3 million pixels per light.

The 21-inch alloys are offered with low-rolling resistance while flush door handles pop out on the approach. There is also a flush tail gate with LED lamps that is in 3D helix design.

Then, there is the star badge on the tailgate, which shows the upmarket styling language on the model.

The EQS 53 is offered with equipment like 64-colour ambient lighting, Burmester sound system, massaging seats as well as optional Nappa leather.

Mercedes-Benz EQS 53 e-car has a 56-inch MBUX hyperscreen — protected by Gorilla glass — and it comes with artificial intelligence and voice commands.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS 53 is the first EV from the company’s performance vehicles’ stable and was unveiled in the global market last year.

The EQS 53 comes with the high performance of AMG technology and is based on the flagship S-Class sedan.

The EQS 53 has a length of 5,220 mm, 1,926 mm is the width and cargo space is 620 litres, which is gigantic by all means.

The AMG EQS 53 has a 107.8kWh lithium-ion battery and the car supports fast charging of up to 200 kWh. Its range can reach 580 km on a single charge under ideal conditions (WLTP parameters).

Mercedes-Benz also unveiled that it would set up the largest ultra-fast charging network in India. Ultra-fast charging means a car could be fully charged within a span of 30 minutes.

This, according to the luxury car giant, would cover 80 per cent of the country by the end of 2022.

So far as performance goes, the AMG EQS 53 does not disappoint. It comes with 762 hp and a total 1,020 Nm of max torque.

This permits the AMG EQS 53 to zoom from 0 to 100 km per hour in a whopping 3.4 seconds! And, its top speed is 250 km per hour, which is mind-blowing for an electric vehicle.

The EQS 53 is priced at Rs 2.45 crore (ex-showroom), India’s most expensive EV till date and may initially come in the completely-knocked down (CKD) form.

This steep pricing is not a factor for the ultra-high net worth buyers provided they see outstanding performance and comfort. The safety factor of the luxury car maker must also play out well.

Mercedes-Benz is buoyant on India and expects 25 per cent of sales in the country from electric vehicles in the next five years.

So, these comfort and performance benchmarks would surely woo Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS 53 EV fans in India as pricing would not be a major factor for the ultra rich, who may also fear the possible curbs petrol and diesel cars could face in the medium-to-long term.
