Hyundai Motor Company’s electric vehicle (EV) portfolio is set to get a big boost with the Ioniq 6 launch and the car will come with a mind blowing 614 km range on a single charge, which could make it the preferred choice of buyers in Europe and the US.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 will come in two options — a 77.4-kWh battery with 2WD, 18-inch tyres as well as a 53-kWh battery with 2WD, 18-inch tyres.

The Ioniq 6 goes on sale during the end of this calendar year at some markets in the European continent and the US (around early next year).
Hyundai’s EV is tipped to be one of the most energy-efficient electric cars with a Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP)-standard energy usage of 13.9 kWh/100 km. This sounds interesting…
According to the company, the Ioniq 6 has been manufactured keeping in mind a modern design with futuristic technology as well as to provide a long-range benefit to its users.
“With the Ioniq 6’s development, we aim to make it the top all-electric range EV,” said Jae Ho Huh, head of sub-mid project management center, Hyundai.
He added, “To become the global leader in EVs, we aim to provide the best performance and ownership experience with the Ioniq 6.”
Hyundai’s dedicated architecture for EVs — the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) platform — will provide a mind blowing all-electric performance to users, aided by the electrified streamliner’s ultra-low wind resistance.
The E-GMP platform of Hyundai offers optimal electric performance and paves the way for 800V ultra-fast charging, which can be done in almost a jiffy — 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes.
The Ioniq 6 also supports 400V charging as there is no need for additional components or adapters.
Having the E-GMP advantage, the Ioniq 6 is a workstation or a power bank on wheels. It can create new usage scenarios to fit customers’ diverse and on-the-move lifestyles.
Hyundai maximised the Ioniq 6’s all-electric driving range with the help of its extensive aerodynamic design and engineering marvel.
The EVs drag coefficient of 0.21 happens to be the lowest in Hyundai’s vehicle line-up and it is also one of the lowest in the industry, which is commendable. A low coefficient depicts high top speed and low-fuel consumption.
The Ioniq 6’s smart appearance and numerous design elements like an active air flap, wheel-air curtains, wheel-gap reducers, integrated rear spoiler and significantly-enhanced aerodynamics performance make it among the sleekest EVs, globally.
The wheel-gap reducers minimise the empty space between the front bumper and the tyres to improve aerodynamic performance around the wheel wells.
This paves the way for the electrified streamliner to provide a longer wheelbase for passenger comfort.
With this, the Ioniq 6 also overcomes the aerodynamic challenges that have been the result of the short-front overhang.
“We put all our efforts to design the most-efficient car in the EV space,” said Byung Hoon Min, head of total vehicle performance development center at Hyundai Motor Company.
So, if the Ioniq 6 really turns out to be the most-efficient and super high-performance car in the EV space with a stunning range of 614 km, it would surely live up to the desires of customers and European and American car buffs would flock for it even if the prices are on the higher side.
