Rolls-Royce, the ultimate luxury car maker, is all set to enter the electric vehicle (EV) space with the launch of the world’s best electric car, the Spectre, and the “Richie Rich” would wait with bated breath until its roll out.
Rolls-Royce, which is now a BMW-owned brand, is targeting to become an all-electric car maker by 2030, and for that to happen, it has to rush with its EV plans.

Buzz about the car began in 2021, and now, it is almost ready for production.
When the design was ready, it was so stunning that prospective super luxury car buyers were simply awestruck.
Design wise, when one thinks of a Rolls-Royce, one imagines the classic and typical Rolls-Royce look, having a long bonnet, along with a fastback tail.
The Spectre may be having the same exterior but it is super large — larger than a full-sized SUV.
The Spectre is even bigger than the four-door Mercedes EQS; the RR is 5.45 metres in length and over 2 metres in width. It has the biggest grille among all Rolls-Royce cars.
Similar to other cars in the EV segment with a radical design, Rolls-Royce has instead decided to give the car its conventional form, making it a successor to the Phantom Coupe.
RR has shown limits while designing the Spectre and both the interior and exterior have a contemporary design of Rolls-Royce.
The Spectre comes with the largest aero-optimised ever installed on a two-door Rolls-Royce coupe, and has 23-inch wheels. This RR EV has an opaque grille and the spirit of Ecstasy perched above it.
It weighs a whopping three tonnes and is 30 per cent stiffer than any RR car ever. The split headlamp design has been adopted from the Phantom.
According to the company, the RR Spectre has been so designed that its weight would add to the comfort level manifold.
A screen on the dashboard has Rolls-Royce’s latest software platform called ‘the spirit’. It would come with connected car tech and be the interface for all future Rolls-Royce automobiles.
Coming to the power and engine, we have a V12 engine powering the Spectre. The EV can travel a whopping 520 km on a single charge as per the WLTP cycle. This is a tad less than Tesla and Mercedes-Benz.
The Spectre’s drag coefficient is 0.25 Cd, making it the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever.
The electric powertrain belts out a Hulk — 585hp and 900Nm of torque, transferring power to all the four wheels.
The RR Spectre can accelerate from 0 to 100 km (69 miles) in just 4.5 seconds.
When it arrives in India — which may be around early 2024 — the RR Spectre would carry a price tag of above Rs 6 crore (Rs 60 million) and the EV can be commissioned effectively immediately.
Globally, the price may be around $415,000. Deliveries of the RR Spectre are likely to commence from the second half of next year.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre would be an epitome in comfort, performance and the safety level is also believed to be top class — these could make it the best electric car in the world and many high net worth (HNI) people would flock for it.
