Subaru’s Impreza 2024 teaser doesn’t reveal much

Subaru has said that it would give details of its new Impreza 2024 at this year’s Auto Show in Los Angeles and has just released only one teaser image of the new model.

This teaser, unfortunately, doesn’t say much about the new car and a complete picture would emerge on November 17.

Subaru’s Impreza 2024 teaser
The 2024 Subaru Impreza could be a hatchback.

Right now, Subaru brings out the Impreza as a sedan. It’s hard to decipher in the teaser image, but it seems as if the new Impreza rides higher than the current car.

We have seen that customers in the US show a preference for SUVs and crossovers. So, the question is whether a higher riding Impreza is possible or could it be a trick?

From the teaser image, which only shows the top portion of the Impreza’s silhouette, it can be inferred that, most probably, the design would be a hatchback.

On the blue Impreza teaser, a few visible items are the hood and A-pillar body lines, which are almost the same compared to the current car that is on the road.

The teaser image also clearly indicates that the small roof spoiler is emerging out, just over the hatch glass.

The car may be offering a well-known safety feature such as the Subaru’s EyeSight System.

This system is one of the most advanced driver-assist systems globally and gives a warning in case a driver skids from the road.

This Eyesight system also received the highest rating for front crash by the IIHS, which could surely make it one of the car’s USPs.

In the teaser image, there is no indication of the Impreza’s interior. However, there is buzz that the car could come with a digital driver display, a refreshed infotainment screen, the latest technological amenities as well as a revamped dash design.

An all-wheel drive is likely to be a standard offering with the new Impreza. However, we are still clueless whether Subaru will make any significant powertrain changes.

The Impreza, which is on the road right now, comes with a 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder engine, which belts out 152 horsepower (113 kilowatts) and has 145 pound-feet (196 Newton-meters) of torque.

The current Impreza has as standard a five-speed manual in its base trim. However, it’s anyone’s guess on whether this transmission will carry over into the refreshed car.

Only after the LA Auto Show, will we gather more information on the specs of the car.

The current fifth-generation Impreza had been rolled out in 2017. Sales of the Impreza had touched a new high that year at a whopping 86,000 units, but they almost fell by half in 2020. This slide in sales continued in 2021 as well.

But to give this Impreza 2024 model a big fillip, Subaru will have to opt for a complete redesign (even though its teaser doesn’t say much) since the choice of car owners in the US is preferably crossovers and SUVs.
