Will Ultraviolette Automotive F77 electric bikes have a smooth ride in India?

Ultraviolette Automotive has rolled out its F77 electric bike in two variants — F77 Original and F77 Recon — but will these bikes have a smooth ride in India at such steep price points?

Both the bikes are different so far as battery capacity, range, performance and price are concerned.

Besides, there is also another variant on offer — the F77 Limited Edition — that has the highest performance levels. And, only 77 units of this edition will be manufactured.

Details of the three variants are as follows:

Ultraviolette F77 Original

The Original comes with an IP67-rated 7.1kWh battery pack, which has a claimed range of 206 km (128 miles) (as per IDC).

Like the price, the motor on this variant is also the least powerful among the three variants. It belts out a 27kW of peak power and 85Nm of torque.

This Ultraviollette Original can do from 0 to 60 km (37 miles) in just 3.4 seconds and hit 0 to 100 km (62 miles) in 8.3 seconds. According to the company, its maximum speed is 140 km (87 miles) per hour.

The battery pack gets a standard warranty of three years or 30,000 km (18,650 miles) and the company allows this to be upgraded to five years or 50,000 km (31,100 miles).

It weighs 197 kg, making the Original the lightest variant in the F77 series. The F77 Original is available in three colours, that is, black, silver and red.

This F22 bike is offered with crash guards as well as a standard charger, while other accessories such as the boost charger are optional. It is priced at Rs 3.8 lakh (Rs 380,000).

Ultraviolette F77 Recon

The Recon is the higher-spec variant in the F77 electric bike series and is equipped with a 10.3kWh battery pack (IP67-rated). Its claimed range is 307 km (190 miles) (as per IDC).

The motor on the Recon is offered with 29kW of peak power and 95Nm of torque.

The F77 Recon has the same colour options as well as accessories as the Original variant and weighs 207 kg.

The Recon can go from 0 to 60 km (37 miles) in 3.1 seconds flat while from 0 to 100 km (62 miles), it takes eight seconds. The top speed is 147 km (91 miles) per hour.

The battery pack comes with a standard warranty of either five years or 50,000 km (31,000 miles), which can be upgraded to eight years or 80,000 km (50,000 miles). The price of the F77 Recon is Rs 4.55 lakh (Rs 455,000).

Ultraviolette F77 Limited Edition

Then, there is on offer the Limited Edition of the Ultraviolette F77. Today, it is the fastest and costliest electric bike in India.

This Limited Edition F77 comes in a bespoke grey and yellow colour scheme and there would be only 77 units up for grabs.

The battery pack as well as claimed range is same as the Recon variant. However, this Limited Edition’s motor is more powerful, having a peak power output of 30.2kW and torque is 100Nm.

This Limited Edition of the F77 can do from 0 to 60 km (37 miles) per hour in just 2.9 seconds and 0 to 100 km (62 miles) can be achieved in 7.8 seconds. The Limited Edition can reach speeds of up to 147 km (91 miles) per hour.

This edition of the F77 is an exception and comes with a fast charger. Its claimed range is also 307 km or 190 miles (as per IDC).

It is equipped with accessories such as rear-wheel cover and lever guards as standard. This is over and above the crash guards.

The Limited Edition variant offers a warranty of eight years or 80,000 km (50,000 miles) as standard and the price is a whopping Rs 5.50 lakh (Rs 550,000).

E-Vroooom’s view

So, the Limited Edition electric motorcycle of the Ultraviollette F77 series is just to test if the Original and Recon versions will have a smooth ride and whether Indian buyers are ready for the bikes at these price points.
