Honda’s 2025 EV from new platform to be priced above basic hatchbacks or compact SUVs

Honda is charting big plans — it is working on a new car platform from where it plans to roll out mid-to-high range electric vehicles (EVs), and by 2025, it will launch an EV that would be priced, perhaps, above the basic hatchbacks or compact SUVs.

But the Japanese auto major has not said whether this car would make its journey into India.

MG Motor’s pricing surprise | MG Comet to be India’s cheapest EV

The price of MG (Morris Garages) Motor’s Comet has just been announced, and to our surprise, it is not Rs 10 lakh, but would be India’s cheapest electric vehicle (EV), with prices starting from Rs 7.98 lakh (Rs 798,000).

Earlier, it was perceived that Tata Motors’ Tiago would be the cheapest EV in India with prices starting from Rs 8.65 lakh (Rs 865,000) onwards.

Ahead of going fully electric by 2030, Mercedes-Benz launches AMG GT 63 S E Performance hybrid in India

Mercedes-Benz has launched the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance, which is its first plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) for India, and this roll out is in the interim, as the luxury car brand seeks to go fully electric by 2030.

The German car maker is bullish about India, and has seen a whopping 107 per cent sales growth for its top-end vehicles (priced above Rs 1 crore or Rs 10 million) during the 2022-23 period.

India’s electric vehicle (EV) start-up Fujiyama has launched five new electric scooters and aims to cater to the lower end of the segment, and with its judicious pricing, it could become a popular option among the masses, especially in rural areas.

But for Fujiyama to gain ground in rural India, it will have to find ways and means to boost EV infrastructure in the hinterland.
