Simple Energy is set to make waves in the Indian electric scooter (e-scooter) market — it has just launched the Simple One with the highest maximum speed among all e-scooters in India and is capable of travelling at a whopping 105 km an hour.
Simple One would attract buyers, mainly the youth, as speed is one of the key considerations before a two-wheeler or a car is bought.
Simple One e-scooter will come with two dual-colour options. |
Distance travelled, acceleration, battery pack, motor
Besides its USP — that is, speed — the electric vehicle (EV) also scores high on another aspect — with distance travelled on a single charge being 212 km.
Simple One can zoom from 0 to 40 km an hour in just 2.77 seconds and this high acceleration would also draw buyers towards it.
The battery pack is a 5 kW Lithium-ion and can be split into two packs, one of which is removal. Simple One e-scooter will have a powerful 8.5 kW motor, belting out 72 nM torque.
The e-scooter would be manufactured at Simple Energy’s facility in Shoolagiri, Tamil Nadu. The EV maker has invested Rs 100 crore in the factory.
Fast charging
The e-scooter will be offered with a fast charging facility, adding 15 km range in just a minute. It can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in just 5 hours 54 minutes.
Simple One’s features
Simple One e-scooter will come equipped with a 7-inch digital display running Android OS having turn-by-turn navigation, document storage, Bluetooth connectivity, giving battery and range details as well as call alerts, among others.
E-scooter’s advance booking, deliveries
Simple One’s bookings have already started and crossed the 1-lakh mark (100,000) soon after its launch.
Deliveries will begin in Bengaluru from June 6, after which it will reach other cities. Deliveries of the first lot will be over in 18 months.
Simple Energy’s localisation claim
According to the company, localisation of the Simple One will be around 95 per cent and this may help it claim government benefits.
Price of Simple One e-scooter
The price of the Simple One will range from Rs 1.45 lakh (Rs 145,000) to Rs 1.58 lakh (Rs 158,000). However, the 750 W charger may have to be purchased separately for Rs 13,000.
The company has said that it is also working on a few variants, which are likely to carry a price tag of between Rs 1 lakh (Rs100,000) and Rs 1.6 lakh (Rs 160,000).
Colour options
The Simple One will be offered in six colours, including two dual-tone options.
E-Vroooom’s views
Despite all these lucrative features, Simple Energy must assure its buyers of battery safety. In case the Simple One e-scooter has some battery issues, it could dent sales substantially.
Simple One’s high speed (highest among all Indian e-scooters) and range will attract customers as no other e-scooter company has this kind of offering in the country’s market as yet.
Simple Energy claims that Simple One’s USPs are its speed, long range, dual battery pack and very smart design and all these factors would definitely help it make waves in the Indian e-scooter market.
