Tata Motors’ Harrier EV plan a smart move

Tata Motors, India’s leading electric vehicles (EV) maker, has surprised the car market by unveiling the Harrier EV officially, and this is a very smart move by the company.

The automobile giant unveiled the image of the upcoming all-electric full-sized SUV on various social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram.

The Tata Harrier EV may be priced around
Rs 30 lakh or Rs 3 million.

Harrier EV showcased earlier

A hint that a Harrier EV was coming was given by Tata Motors at the 2023 Auto Expo.

The Harrier, which was displayed earlier, was also showcased via latest teaser shows of the company.

The electric SUV was seen with a premium bronze and white dual-tone paint. In its bid to make the design very unique, the carmaker has used all-black paints in numerous parts of the vehicle.

Modified Harrier

Tata Motors has modified the EV’s front fascia, which makes it very unique compared to the internal combustion engine (ICE) version.

It is clearly seen that Tata Motors gives the Harrier electric a connecting LED daily running lamps (DRL) strip, which is above the front grille.

When is the Tata Harrier EV launch expected?

Tata Motors has remained mum on the launch timeline, but from the various social media posts on the Harrier, it can be inferred that the electric vehicle will make its entry in early 2024 itself.

It could be extensively seen on the road a year later. Answering questions regarding bookings and launch date of the Harrier EV on Twitter, Tata Motors replied, “… see yourself driving one in 2024.”

Specs, features of the Tata Harrier EV

During the Auto Expo, Tata Motors had stated that the Harrier EV will be powered by dual-electric motors and comes with an all-wheel-drive system.

The company has remained tight-lipped on any battery and performance figures. However, the Harrier EV is expected to have a range of 400-500 km on a single charge.

Battery pack, charging options

According to certain reports, the Harrier EV could be loaded with a 60 kWh battery pack. Furthermore, Tata Motors’ new EV may also come with various charging options such as vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle.

This implies that the Harrier electric will not only be able to charge its own battery but also provide power to other devices. In fact, it can even charge other electric vehicles.

E-Vroooom’s views

Tata Motors’ roll out plan of the new Harrier EV will be a very smart move (a game changer, in fact) as it will be the first company in India’s electric vehicle space to have an e-SUV around the Rs 30 lakh (Rs 3 million) price bracket.
