Global rollout of Kia EV3 with 600-km range

Kia Motor’s latest global electric vehicle (EV), the Kia EV3, has been launched worldwide and the compact SUV is set to redefine the segment with a mileage of 600 km on a single charge.

This EV has similar features to the Kia flagship electric vehicle, the EV9, and is likely to balance aesthetics with technology and functionality.

Kia’s EV3 launch plan

Kia will launch the EV3 initially in South Korea in July 2024, followed by a European roll out later in the year.

It will extend the launch to other regions after that. However, Kia has remained mum on its India launch plan.

Kia EV3 design

The EV3 depicts Kia’s “Opposite United” design philosophy and is the perfect blend between nature and modernity.

The EV3’s exterior comprises vertical headlamps along with the new Star Map signature lighting, which give it a futuristic look.

This look is further enhanced by the sleek roof and the muscular body design, thus beefing up its agility.

EV3 interior

The Kia EV3 interior comes with a spacious environment that offers adequate comfort.

The cabin is designed to accommodate five passengers and is offered with features like multi-adjustable ambient lighting, a sliding table and fold-back relaxation seats.

The 30-inch widescreen display integrates well with the dashboard, boosting the entertainment as well as the navigation system.

Kia EV3 | Performance, battery and range

The EV3 runs on the Kia fourth generation battery technology and comes with a best-in-segment range of 600 km on the WLTP cycle, though under real conditions, the range could be a tad lower.

The EV3 has two variants — one with a 58.3 kWh battery and the long-range model with an 81.4 kWh battery.

Both the variants have a 150 kW motor and this permits the EV3 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km an hour in just 7.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 km an hour.

Charging the EV3

An USP of the EV3 is its charging. It can charge from 0 per cent to 80 per cent in just 31 minutes.

Optimising energy use and boosting performance

It also has hi-tech battery management and cell monitoring units. These not only optimise energy use but also give a fillip to the performance.

EV3 high on safety and convenience

The EV3 comes with a litany of advanced safety and driving assistance systems, such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Highway Driving Assist and Lane Keeping Assist.

These features, as well as the new eDTVC Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control, ensure a smooth and stable drive.

EV3’s connectivity and entertainment

Kia has integrated a slew of connectivity and entertainment features in the EV3. They are the new Kia AI Assistant, which uses generative AI to facilitate natural language interaction and support for various functions.

There is also a Premium Streaming service. It is powered by LG’s Automotive Content Platform and the in-car gaming system is also one of the USPs of the EV3.

EV3 customisation options

These comprise NBA team-inspired Display Themes and a slew of interior colour and material choices, depicting elements of Air, Earth, and Water.

Sustainable materials like recycled PET are used throughout the interior. This indicates Kia’s commitment to sustainability.

E-Vroooom’s views

With its worldwide launch, Kia Motor’s latest global electric vehicle, the Kia EV3, may redefine the segment and its likely price of Rs 30 lakh (Rs 3 million) and the 600-km range could be reasons enough for car buffs to flock for the EV3.
