MG Motor India is gearing up to grow its electric vehicle line-up with the launch of the highly-anticipated MG Cloud EV.

Although the launch date has not been officially disclosed, reports suggest that the EV could hit the Indian market as early as September 2024.

The MG Cloud EV aims to carve a niche for itself as a premium offering, and will be positioned above the existing MG ZS EV.

Designed to cater to a distinct segment of customers, this electric vehicle boasts of a sleek and modern exterior.
Key design elements include LED lighting, flush door handles, and a streamlined roofline, and all these add to its sophisticated appearance.
Measuring 4.3 metres in length, the Cloud EV promises to make a big statement on the Indian roads.
Inside, the MG Cloud EV will feature a luxurious cabin equipped with an array of high-end amenities.
The interior will also offer electrically-adjustable seats and a sunroof, designed with a minimalist approach that includes steering-mounted controls.
MG Cloud EV features
Expectations are high for features such as a 360-degree camera system, dual digital screens, climate control, connected car technology, and Level 2 ADAS driver assistance.
MG Cloud EV battery, range and pricing
Under the hood, the MG Cloud EV may be propelled by a 50.6 kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor, delivering an impressive driving range of up to 460 km on a single charge. But driving range will depend upon the variant.
The MG Cloud EV is likely to be competitively priced around Rs 25-28 lakh (Rs 2.5-2.8 million).
This pricing strategy aims to position the Cloud EV as a strong contender against other EVs in its segment, such as the BYD e6.
Its feature-rich package and eco-friendly credentials may appeal to the new-age, chauffeur-driven market in India.
Testing ahead of launch
The test mules of the MG Cloud EV have been spotted several times, indicating that the vehicle is undergoing rigorous testing ahead of its launch.
MG India market to get a boost
Based on the Wulling Cloud EV from Indonesia, the Indian variant is poised to join MG Motor India’s existing electric vehicle line up of the Comet EV and the ZS EV.
These models have already established MG’s presence in the Indian EV market, and the addition of the Cloud EV will further boost market position.
MG Motor India price increase
Recently, MG Motor India announced a price increase for its existing electric models. The MG ZS EV saw a price hike of Rs 25,000, bringing its new price range to Rs 18.98 lakh (Rs 1.89 million)-Rs 25.44 lakh (Rs 2.54 million).
Similarly, the MG Comet EV experienced a smaller price increase of up to Rs 13,000, with revised prices starting at Rs 6.99 lakh (Rs 699,000) and going up to Rs 9.53 lakh (Rs 953,000).
According to rumours, MG may launch a 5-door SUV based on the Baojun YEP Plus alongside the Cloud EV.
The MG Cloud EV will be MG Motor India’s most expensive electric vehicle to date, and position itself as the flagship offering of the brand in India.
